Grizzly Bear Soapstone

A hand‑carved serpentine sculpture of a grizzly bear, signed “Chief Carver” and dated 2009. The powerful stance and polished surface reflect contemporary Inuit carving traditions, capturing the strength and spirit of one of the North’s most respected animals. The piece blends traditional form with modern craftsmanship, offering a striking presence in any collection. Chief Carver is an uprising Manitoban artist. He focuses his carving on mostly Inuit influences, even though he is not Inuit himself he enjoys the artwork and enjoys their traditions. He apprenticed to Bart Lavalle, famously known world wide as Stoneboy. Stoneboy was a student also to a world famous carver George Arlook. He enjoys carving them the traditional way, using abstract and unique appearances, with a modern touch to them.
