David Nibgoarsi was born on August 16, 1972, in Churchill, Manitoba, and moved back to Arviat, Nunavut shortly after his birth, where he was raised within the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the North. Inspired at a young age by watching his brother carve, David developed a deep passion for the art form that would become a lifelong pursuit. Working primarily with bone, antler, and ivory, he creates intricate carvings that reflect both the strength and spirit of Inuit culture and Arctic life. Through years of dedication and self-guided learning, David refined a distinctive artistic voice rooted in tradition, patience, and craftsmanship. Today, his work is increasingly sought after by collectors and galleries for its authenticity, detail, and powerful connection to the North. For David, carving is more than a profession, it is a lifelong passion and a meaningful way of preserving and sharing Inuit culture through art.
