COMING SOON TO BLOCH BAUERS GALLERY OF FINE ART
The Graphic Uprising – When Posters Became Protest
June 2nd – 30th, 2026
Opening Reception: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Bloch Bauers Gallery of Fine Art is proud to present a powerful new exhibition exploring the visual language of resistance through a rare collection of protest test-print posters produced during the period surrounding the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
At a time when the world’s attention was fixed on celebration and spectacle, another movement was unfolding in the streets. One driven by artists, activists, and communities using graphic art as a form of protest and public expression. Bold typography, striking imagery, and raw emotional energy transformed posters into voices of dissent.
This exhibition examines the intersection of graphic design, politics, public space, and cultural memory. More than printed material, these works stand as historical documents of frustration, resistance, hope, and the enduring power of visual communication.
Join us for an exhibition that asks an important question:
What happens when posters stop advertising… and start speaking back?
